Some of the trails in the Porkies guide hikers through magnificent stands of old growth timber. Even in locations that have previously felt the effects of man, the trailside vegetation is quite lush.

Numerous waterfalls are located within the boundaries of the Porkies. An extensive boardwalk trail near the Presque Isle Campground makes access to three large waterfalls easy for everyone .
