Yellow Goatsbeard Yellow Goatsbeard
(Tragopogon dubius)
An interesting late-spring wildflower is the yellow goatsbeard.  Resembling a dandelion on steroids, this plant has the unique characteristic of opening early in the day, then often closing its flower around noon.

When the seed head is mature, the yellow goatsbeard again resembles a gigantic dandelion.
