Wild Ginger Wild Ginger
(Asarum canadensis)
It wasn't until I was down on the ground, photographing another species of wildflower, that I realized I was in the midst of wild ginger.  The flower itself is only seen at ground level.  In other words, get down on your hands and knees if you want to view a most interesting plant.

Wild ginger blooms at the same time as many other Iowa wildflowers -- a time that causes a flora enthusiast to ask: "Which flower should I enjoy next?"
