Wood Anemone Wood Anemone
(Anemone quinquefolia)
Each springtime I look for the three "anemone" flowers: rue anemone, false rue anemone, and the wood anemone.  Of the three, the wood anemone is the easiest to recognize -- it has the deeper cut, pointed leaves.

Wood anemones seem difficult to photograph.  The plant lives in rich, wooded areas where ample light is not often present.  Its leaves also turn brown rather quickly.
