Shooting Star Shooting Star
(Dodecatheon meadia)
When I see shooting stars flagging in rural ditches, I know several things:yellow and white lady's slippers are flowering, Memorial Day will soon occur (or just has), and the hot days of summer are around the corner.

Surprisingly, shooting stars grow in more locations than I once thought.  An alert driver will see many in undisturbed prairies and road ditches.
