Bloodroot Bloodroot
(Sanguinaria canadensis)
Haphazardly arranged clumps of white drew my attention to one of the first, and more common, wildflowers of spring: the bloodroot.  A solitary white blossom opens fully only under a bright sun.  Anything less and the petals remain furled around the stalk.

Enjoy the bloodroot quickly; weather quickly takes a toll on the blossom.
