Blue Vervain  Blue Vervain
      (Verbena hastata)

When I see the blue vervain is flowering, I know that the peak of the wildflower season has certainly passed and the transition to autumn has begun.  Sure, the days may still be hot, but all I need to do is look around and I will notice that most vegetation is beginning to look tired and aged.  The vibrant colors of fall will soon surround us.
