Crimson Cup Fungus Crimson Cup
During so many of my walks through moist, rich woods, I will notice a small, bright red splash of color.  Often the color is partially hidden under forest litter.  What have I found . . . the crimson cup fungus.

I have observed crimson cup fungus at all times -- with snow in them to nearly hidden under the newly fallen leaves of autumn.  Sometimes it takes considerable effort to locate a crimson cup; other times they are widespread and abundant.
